Camden Stevens
Camden Stevens (b. 2002, Woodbury, MN) is a Minneapolis based interdisciplinary artist. Having spent his youth deeply engaged with theater and graphic novels, Stevens recognizes the power of storytelling and narrative, utilizing this background to create the foundations of his work. Through his use of repeat characters, stylized forms, and graphic elements, Stevens architects a space to examine his conflicting perspectives on representations of masculinity as it appears in his life, constantly cycling back and forth between disapproval and glamorization. From large scale works depicting globe headed boxers, to action figure scale bronze sculptures, Stevens fleshes out a world of his own creation, relishing in the beauty of exaggerated emotionalism and scrutinizing the performance of the masculine.
Stevens completed his BFA in Studio Art at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. His recent exhibitions include his first Solo exhibition STARGAZER at Schmidt’s Landmark Gallery (2024) in St. Paul, MN, and group exhibitions Vital Condition at the Nash Gallery (2024) and Temporal Exchange in the Quarter Gallery (2024) in Minneapolis, MN.
